“Litt’l Bites” Cherry Tomato
The “Litt’l Bites” cherry tomato plant is a cute compact plant which delivers great tasting tomatoes! It can produce in excess of 75 cherry tomatoes during the Minnesota growing season. These cherry tomatoes are great for eating salads and snacking. Tomatoes ripen to a bright red color and have a normal sugar content.
When to expect ripe fruit
Fruit may begin to ripen as early as late June depending on weather. Otherwise, expect ripening “Litt’l Bites” Cherry Tomatoes from early-mid July all the way up to first frost in the fall. Even though this is determinate plant, we’ve found it will put out a second round of tomatoes late in the summer well before the first Minnesota frost.
Growth habit
The “Litt’l Bites” cherry tomato plant is a determinate bush-style plant which means it will not get any taller than a couple of feet. This is a compact plant and is great for patio, deck or balcony environments. Fruit clusters average 7-10 tomatoes per cluster. Cherry tomatoes average .75-1.5” in diameter.
Basic care information for “Litt’l Bites” Cherry Tomato plants
Thoroughly saturate the grow bag with water in the morning before the heat of the day arrives. If daytime highs are consistently above 70F, your plant will need to be watered daily. If below 70F, check the grow bag frequently by using the finger method described on the bag tag. Apply water to the base of the plant and avoid splashing water onto any part of the leaves.
Apply supplemental fertilizer after the first round of cherry tomatoes are harvested. Any balanced fertilizers labelled for fruits and vegetables will be sufficient.
Easily move the grow bag indoors if there’s a threat of frost or freezing temperatures overnight. Mature (but not ripened) fruits may be harvested and ripened inside.
